Those of you who have been following the latest news from the Cheri Riley Group know that throughout the week, we have brought you several posts related to top schools in the Atlanta area. This includes the Top 10 Elementary Schools, and the Top 10 Middle Schools according to Schooldigger.com. We also spotlighted one outstanding elementary school in Marietta, Georgia, East Side Elementary, a remarkable school that has demonstrated significant academic gains in recent times. In our final post of our SchoolDigger.com series, we are excited to feature those Georgia high schools that have earned the top spots in the rankings.
A simple search on SchoolDigger.com provided us with relevant information about top high schools in Atlanta, as well as throughout the state. The rankings we explored looked specifically at Georgia High School Graduation Test in Mathematics (based on Quality Core Curriculum Standards, or QCC’s), as well as English/Language Arts (based on Georgia Performance Standards, or GPS).
Among the top ten were Dekalb School of the Arts in Dekalb County (tied for number one among several other schools), Lassiter High School in Cobb County (also tied for number one), and Walton High School in Cobb County as well (number ten). The rankings not only take into consideration the GHSGT results, but also factors such as student teacher ratios, and changes from the previous year’s standing.
