Throughout the week, the Cheri Riley Group has brought you several education-related posts, including information about Top Georgia Middle Schools as well as Top Georgia Elementary Schools. Look for a post later in the week about those Georgia High Schools that deserve recognition as well. Today we’re pleased to spotlight one truly remarkable elementary school that has been in the news lately for its inspiring academic achievements and improvements, East Side Elementary in Marietta, Georgia.
Located on Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia, East Side Elementary is part of the Cobb County School District. Led by Ms. Elizabeth Mavity, Principal, East Side Elementary is a public Pre-K through 5 elementary school with just under 1000 students enrolled. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 14 to 1, the school has shown tremendous academic gains in recent years. This year, Schooldigger.com ranked East Side 30th out of 1079 public elementary schools in the state of Georgia, up 30 spots from last year’s rankings!
Schooldigger.com named East Side Elementary a “5-Star School“, and the East Side Media Program was selected as a 2009 Exceptional Library Media Program by the Georgia Department of Education! The school features an active PTA, a unique Reflections Program that promotes the arts, and Junior Great Books, an after-school enrichment activity, to name a few of its many features.
Trulia.com, a valuable real estate resource, displays a wonderful graph highlighting the accomplishments of East Side Elementary based on 2008 – 2009 CRCT results. As you can see, all grades that take the CRCT (1st through 5th) surpassed other Cobb County Schools, as well as schools throughout Georgia, in all five areas of the CRCT. Way to go!
