Mark RileyOn Wednesday, October 28th, 2009, Atlanta School Board District 4 Candidate, Mark Riley, will host an informational meeting from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Speech School Auditorium.

Riley, an eight-year at-large member on the board, brings a great deal of professional and personal experience, as well as commitment, to the school board.  As the founder and managing partner of Urban Realty Partners, Riley contributes business and legal expertise, and serves as a member of the Board’s Budget Commission.  He is an advocate of the International Baccalaureate, or IB, program for all District 4 schools, and has worked diligently to support and help retain Atlanta Public Schools’ Superintendent Beverly Hall, who was recently named 2009 National Superintendent of the Year.  Riley, a Northside parent himself, served as a key player in helping to increase the graduation rate in the district from below 50% to its current rate, which is around 75%. Mark Riley clearly demonstrates true dedication to the students, their families, and the communities within District 4 and beyond.

In addition to these many impressive contributions to the Northside community, Riley is the Director of the Sartain Lanier Family Foundation, serves on the Advisory Board for Leadership Atlanta and Regional Leadership Institute, and is an active member of the Buckhead Church,  Riley’s children, Rob and John, attend North Atlanta High School and Westminster, respectively.  His wife, Becky, serves as the Chairman of Board at Atlanta’s Center for Puppetry Arts.

Hope he gets a good turn at the meeting. He spoke at our company meeting last week and it was great for everyone to hear all the initiatives he has been involved with over the past eight years.
